SVG Downloader is a Chrome extension that lets you select an SVG element on a web page and download it as a PNG image. The extension is designed to respect your privacy completely: it does not collect personal data, track browsing activity, or send data to external servers.
What data we collect
None. The extension does not collect, store, sell, or share your data.
SVG Downloader is intentionally simple: it only performs the conversion you request, in the current browser tab, when you invoke it.
No sensitive data
No health, financial, authentication, or location data is collected.
No external tracking
No cookies, analytics, third-party trackers, or remote telemetry are used.
Your browsing activity stays yours.
The extension does not track your browsing activity or history, and it does not transmit data to the developer or to any external / remote server.
How the extension works
All processing happens locally in your browser.
The extension only works when you actively use it. It does not run in the background and has no remote code.
You activate selection mode
The extension uses the activeTab permission, which grants temporary access to the current tab only when you invoke the extension.
You click an SVG
The extension reads the selected SVG element from the current page and renders it onto an in-page <canvas>.
The PNG download starts
The rendered canvas is converted into a PNG and downloaded through the normal browser download flow.
URL-referenced SVGs are handled only as needed
For SVGs referenced by <img>, <object>, or <embed>, the extension may fetch the SVG file from the page’s own origin solely for on-the-fly rendering. The fetched content is not stored or transmitted anywhere.
